Ministry of Defence Annual Report: The defence export touched 10, 745 crores during 2018-2019. The growth of over 100percent compared to 2017-2018. In the year 2017-2018, the authorisation was 4,682 crores. Compared to 2016-2017 when the defence authorisation was only 1521 crores, the growth 2018-19 is over 800 per cent.
Creating a Startup Ecosystem for Defence and Aerospace:
Innovations for Defence Excellence (iDEX) is a scheme formulated in collaboration with Startup India and Atal Innovation Mission. The objective is to bring Startups to innovate, develop technology and solve problems related to defence and aerospace. iDEX,
the first initiative of its kind in the country was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 12, 2018. iDEX is aimed
at the creation of an ecosystem to foster innovation and technology development in Defence and Aerospace. It engages Industries including MSMEs, startups, Individual Innovators, R&D institutes and Academia and provide them funding and other support to carry
out R&D. It is expected that India can take advantage of its vibrant startup ecosystem to develop technologies related to defence and aerospace.
